L\u2019Institute of Heritage Science, rattach\u00e9 au <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnr.it\">Conseil national de la recherche italien (CNR)<\/a>, m\u00e8ne un projet d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 leur \u00e9tude non destructive. Les fragments d\u00e9roul\u00e9s jadis sont fragiles, multicouches et souvent illisibles.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thermographie puls\u00e9e et lecture d\u2019inscriptions<\/h2><p>La m\u00e9thode associe une impulsion lumineuse br\u00e8ve et une imagerie thermique \u00e0 haute cadence. Les premi\u00e8res images infrarouges apr\u00e8s l\u2019excitation distinguent l\u2019encre du papyrus, par diff\u00e9rence d\u2019absorption. En quelques secondes, la diffusion thermique fait \u00e9merger des d\u00e9tails structurels sous-jacents. Deux lampes flash g\u00e9n\u00e8rent l\u2019excitation, tandis que l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9vation de temp\u00e9rature reste limit\u00e9e \u00e0 2 \u00e0 3\u00a0\u00b0C. Des filtres d\u00e9di\u00e9s bloquent les ultraviolets et minimisent les r\u00e9flexions infrarouges parasites.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Le port lock\u2011in \u00e9chantillonne \u00e0 2,775\u00a0MHz<\/h2><p>Les cam\u00e9ras Flir X-Series, op\u00e9rant dans l\u2019infrarouge \u00e0 ondes moyennes, combinent haute sensibilit\u00e9 et enregistrement rapide pour capter de faibles \u00e9carts de temp\u00e9rature entre zones encr\u00e9es et non encr\u00e9es. Leur port d\u2019entr\u00e9e analogique lock\u2011in re\u00e7oit un signal de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence externe et autorise des analyses \u00e0 une fr\u00e9quence d\u2019\u00e9chantillonnage de 2,775\u00a0MHz. Les acquisitions continues sans perte s\u2019int\u00e8grent aux traitements d\u00e9taill\u00e9s dans Flir Research Studio. L\u2019ensemble demeure sans contact et non destructif, condition indispensable pour des pi\u00e8ces patrimoniales fix\u00e9es sur support.<\/p><p>Au\u2011del\u00e0 de la r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration des textes, les s\u00e9quences thermiques r\u00e9v\u00e8lent la morphologie: trames de fibres, empilements de couches, zones d\u2019adh\u00e9rence entre feuillet et support. Ces informations guident les restaurations et aident \u00e0 localiser des d\u00e9collements en cours. Des r\u00e9gions issues d\u2019un d\u00e9roulement historique imparfait pr\u00e9sentent des couches comprim\u00e9es, difficiles \u00e0 analyser par les m\u00e9thodes conventionnelles.<\/p><p>Un d\u00e9fi persiste pour le verso et les sections fortement stratifi\u00e9es, o\u00f9 la lumi\u00e8re d\u2019excitation p\u00e9n\u00e8tre peu et o\u00f9 les signaux thermiques profonds s\u2019att\u00e9nuent et se brouillent.
