Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announces that HxGN live, Hexagon's annual digital solutions conference, held at The Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 12-15, attracted visitors and guests from 70 countries. The Manufacturing Intelligence area hosted hundreds of manufacturing specialists in three areas: design & engineering, production and metrology. Users of MSC Software CAE solutions, Vero Software CAD/CAM solutions and PC-DMIS metrology software attended breakout sessions and technical sessions during the HxGN live conference. They also met with Hexagon product specialists in The Zone, where they could see the digital wire in action as a common communication framework with feedback circuits that integrate continuous improvement into the product life cycle.
The Manufacturing Intelligence presentations featured executives and experts, customers and thought leaders including Virgin Hyperloop One, Electroimpact, WL3 Solutions, National Institute for Aeronautics Research (NIAR), Fullerton University, ToolingU (SME), National Composites Center and Safran Aero.
Hexagon's HxGN live 2018 conference also hosted the fifth annual Shaping Smart Changes trophy awards, honoring customers for their pioneering use of smart changes, this time recognizing the National Institute of Aeronautical Research (NIAR) for its groundbreaking use of digital solutions from Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. Ola Rollén, president and CEO of Hexagon, presented a Shaping Smart Change trophy to Brian Brown, director of NIAR's Robotics and Automation Department, for major innovations and research work in the aerospace industry.
Norbert Hanke, president of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, challenged attendees to "rethink quality" during his introductory presentation in the Venetian's ballroom. The presentation focused on the key drivers of the smart factory, including the transformative potential of quality management across the product lifecycle to drive manufacturing productivity. Speaking alongside N. Hanke were Dr. Michael Grieves, executive director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Innovative Design (CAMID) at the Florida Institute of Technology, and Brian Shepherd, vice president of software solutions at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. This presentation discussed the effectiveness of smart manufacturing principles in making design, production and productivity more streamlined.
