Carlsberg, which employs more than 40,000 people worldwide, now uses PTC's suite of digital manufacturing solutions in 28 of its breweries in Europe and Asia. Built on Microsoft Azure, the suite of solutions includes ThingWorx, the industrial IoT platform to accelerate value creation, leverage data, and information sharing.

Carlsberg needed a tool to drive, document and ensure the transparency of all its operations related to the transformation of raw materials into finished products worldwide. The brewer recognized that PTC's expertise and technology could help it monitor packaging machines and systems and drive the overall efficiency and performance of its equipment, to ensure quality products and consistent productivity.

"Brewing for better today and tomorrow is the essence of what we strive to do at Carlsberg," said Marco Farina, Global Operational Technology Manager at Carlsberg.

"This philosophy has been the driving force behind Carlsberg's spectacular expansion over the past decade, which has pushed us to increase production and packaging capacity in all our breweries."

"Digitalization is the engine of change in the industry. It gave us the opportunity to examine different approaches for continuous improvement. By integrating ThingWorx with our existing production assets, we have improved connectivity across our breweries and can now provide more detailed analyses of the packaging cycle. »

PTC's suite of digital manufacturing solutions, specifically designed for industrial environments, provides the functionality, flexibility, and agility to quickly deploy IoT use cases. The application built using PTC technology allowed for accelerated implementation. Carlsberg was able to deploy it in 28 breweries in the space of 28 months. In addition, the deployment carried out on the Microsoft Azure cloud allowed a rapid and secure scaling of the solution.

"Production managers at the 28 breweries or at headquarters will now be able to analyze our operations in real time, whether on site or remotely," continues Mr. Farina.

"Carlsberg intends to build an end-to-end digital value chain that will positively impact all operations, from forecasting to supply, brewing, packaging and logistics, in order to better serve our customers."

Dave Grammer, General Manager for UKI at PTC, concludes: "With PTC and Microsoft Azure, Carlsberg will be able to quickly develop and deploy custom, scalable and secure applications that can monitor, manage and control packaging machines. We look forward to continuing to support this famous brand in its digital transformation journey." »
