The W12L series includes retro-reflective sensors with a switching distance of up to 12 m and diffuse reflection sensors with sensing distances of up to 1.2 m. Reliability of detection is ensured for long distances as well as for short distance applications. The light spot
The particularly precise image generated by the laser class 1 light spots of the sensors also enables the identification of even filigree objects and features - depending on the installation situation - even through very small holes or recesses. In applications requiring the detection of objects with perforated, structured or uneven surfaces, the LineSpot technology guarantees optimum detection reliability thanks to its line-shaped light spot.
The MultiMode diffuse reflection sensor: a wide variety of functions in one device
Many users are looking for a versatile sensor with maximum flexibility, and the WTM12-L diffuse reflection sensor with MultiMode is ideally suited to meet these expectations. Seven operating modes are available. Background suppression, foreground suppression and the teach-in function of two independent switching points guarantee optimum detection reliability in the various applications. The Window mode allows the detection of objects within a defined window. In ApplicationSelect mode, the sensor can be set to a shorter response time or increased sensitivity. It is also possible to obtain a distance value via IO-Link. With this MultiMode version, the W12L ensures the optimal operation for each case. The installation and commissioning teams always work with the right sensor on the machine and the service team always has the right sensor available for troubleshooting. This saves time and money.
The BluePilot user assistant ensures a quick and comfortable start
With the BluePilot concept, users are able to set up the W12L within seconds. The sensors can be set intuitively via potentiometer - fast, precise and reliable. The LED display informs the user about the optimal alignment (retro-reflective sensors) or the set 1/2 switching distance (diffuse reflection). During operation, BluePilot also provides a visual indication if the detection quality is reduced due to dirt or vibration. This helps to anticipate system malfunctions.
Robust
Sick has also thought of everything when it comes to the robustness of the W12-L. The metal housing (die-cast zinc) withstands the most intense stresses, whether mechanical, chemical or even thermal, ensuring a long service life even in a harsh environment. From a detection point of view, thanks to the polarizing filtering of the receiving signal in the W12-L, the sensor is able to distinguish between a reflector and stray light or depolarizing objects, such as safety vests, packaging films or adhesive strips on packages. This reliable detection reduces the risk of erroneous switching and thus process disturbances.
Data provider for diagnosis and monitoring
As a Smart Sensor with IO-Link communication, the W12L is able to provide a multitude of status and data information for production and control processes as well as to execute autonomously defined Smart Tasks. In addition, the sensors provide extensive data for self-diagnosis during operation and for predictive maintenance. Thus, the W12L ensures increased availability and is a safe and future-proof investment.
