The company French company Diaxys presents its PHT-RF range of sensors.
Warehouses storing foodstuffs on logistics sites or in warehouses, workshops storing medicines, metrology workshops, and more generally all premises where the environment needs to be monitored (if only for comfort), require ambient conditions to be monitored.
These are typical applications for Diaxys' new PHT-RF sensor. It combines three sensors in one (measuring temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure), is battery-powered and transmits its measurements by radio. There are no wires to run, and installation is quick and easy. The PHT-RF can be installed as a permanent fixture, but also lends itself well to one-off installations (for a set period) with changes of location.
Measured values are transmitted by radio at 2.4 GHz in accordance with the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. Range is 400 m in open fields, and between 30 and 90 m inside buildings. Transmitted data are retrieved by concentrators (supplied by Diaxys), which return them in conventional analog or digital (Modbus) formats for use by a PLC or supervision system.
In environmental monitoring applications, the focus is often on exceeding predefined limit values (e.g. exceeding the temperature or humidity level of a drug).
The PHT-RF meets this need.. Thresholds can be assigned to the three measured variables, and only those values exceeding the threshold can be transmitted (alarm mode). By combining the PHT-RF with a remote relay control (DXRF-ES wireless gateway), the PHT-RF acts as a pressure switch, hygrostat and thermostat.
Measurement probes are built-in. The DXRF11/12 measures pressures from 0 to 1200 mbar (with a resolution of 0.1 mbar and an accuracy of 2 mbar), relative humidity between 0 and 100 % (with a resolution of 0.1 % and an accuracy of 1.5 % between 20 and 80 % RH) and temperature between -20 °C and 50 °C (with a resolution of 0.1 °C and an accuracy of 0.5 °C).
The PHT-RF features an LCD display and 3 buttons for navigation and configuration. It is powered by a 3 Ah battery, and its very low power consumption (a few µA in standby mode) ensures autonomy of over 5 years in supervision mode, and over 10 years in alarm mode.
The housing is designed to operate between -20 and +50°C.
Summary of PHT-RF features
- Room parameter measurement sensor with radio transmission
- Measures pressure (0 to 1200 mbar), relative humidity (0 to 100 %HR) and temperature (-20°C to 50°C)
- Resolution of 0.1 mbar for pressure, 0.1 %HR for humidity and 0.1 °C for temperature
- Accuracy of 0.5 mbar for pressure, 1.5 % for humidity between 20 and 80 %HR (and 3 % outside this range) and 0.5°C for temperature.
- Radio transmission (IEEE 802.15.4 standard) at 2.4 GHz. Range of 400m in the open and between 30 and 90 m inside buildings (through several concrete walls).
- Designed to operate in conjunction with a concentrator (supplied by Diaxys), which returns measurements in the form of analog or digital (Modbus) signals for transmission to a controller or supervisory PC.
- Thresholds can be assigned to the measured values. The PHT-RF thus acts as a pressure switch, hygrostat and thermostat.
- Operating temperature: between -20 and +50°C
- Powered by 3 Ah battery
- Power consumption: less than 0.2 W in operation and 0.2 mW in standby mode
- Wall mounting
