The fortieth edition of MIDEST, the world's number one industrial subcontracting show, held from November 2 to 5, reflected the current economic context, with figures significantly up on last year. The event recorded an increase of 3 % in floor space, 1.5 % in exhibitors and 1.8 % in visitors.

There were many highlights, from the MIDEST inauguration by Christian Estrosi, Minister for Industry, accompanied by Jean-Claude Volot, Médiateur des relations inter-entreprises industrielles et de la sous-traitance, to the celebrations surrounding the fortieth anniversary of the event, not to mention the many events that punctuated the four days.

To mark its fortieth anniversary, MIDEST 2010 had to offer even more entertainment for exhibitors and visitors alike.

A brochure retracing the history of the show was available free of charge at the entrances, featuring numerous testimonials and a number of industrial chronological landmarks. Some fifteen special Trophies were also awarded on November 3 to companies that have been present at MIDEST since its inception and have remained loyal to the event, at a gala evening following a round-table discussion featuring leading names from the world of industry on the theme of "Subcontracting 2020: developments and opportunities". Yvon Jacob, Ambassador for Industry, Jean-Claude Volot, Médiateur des relations inter-entreprises industrielles et de la sous-traitance, Jérôme Frantz, Président de la Fédération des Industries Mécaniques, Bruno Estienne, Président de la Fédération de la Plasturgie, Guy Métral, Président de la Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Haute-Savoie and Jean-Claude Monier, Président du MIDEST et du CENAST (Centre National de la Sous-Traitance) discussed the future of the sector with passion and optimism.

For their fifth edition, the MIDEST Trophies enabled professionals to discover a dozen winning exhibitors with outstanding performances and assets across five major categories: Design office (ALOATEC), Innovation (BELMEKO, CODICA CABLES TRANSMISSIONS, COFICE SAS, DSI PLASTICS, FTV RDO ALPHA), International (BARON), Organization (GARDETTE INDUSTRIE, GIE TEGMA) and Exemplary achievements (ADDIX SAS, ARS, FONDERIE VINCENT).

Led by experts from CETIM (Centre technique des industries mécaniques), CTIF (Centre de développement des industries de mise en forme des matériaux - Fonderie) and LRCCP (Laboratoire de recherches et de contrôle du caoutchouc et des plastiques), the Technology Hubs provided visitors with valuable information on innovative techniques and processes.

Finally, MIDEST was the occasion for the official launch of EMERGENCE INDUSTRYThe Moroccan event will take place from May 17 to 20, 2011 at the Casablanca Exhibition Center (OFEC), with the aim of becoming THE must-attend annual industry event in the country. It will bring together SISTEP MIDEST, the only Moroccan trade show dedicated to industrial subcontracting, and the complementary MIMA, the country's international trade show for machinery, equipment and services for industry.

MAINTENANCE EXPOFor its part, the MIDEST, the trade show for all maintenance solutions, which was held concurrently, recorded stable visitor numbers. Over 3,000 professionals came to meet exhibitors, and 6,000 MIDEST visitors took the opportunity to discover the maintenance solutions essential to their business.
