National Instruments announces six new PXI products at Productronica, including a real-time embedded controller, PXI Express system expansion modules and high-speed data storage products for streaming data to and from hard disks. These announcements follow the launch of more than 40 other NI PXI products this year, further extending the capabilities of PXI for a variety of industries. With so many new products, NI confirms its place as an innovation leader in a steadily growing global PXI market.
The new NI PXIe-8100 real-time embedded controller features the Intel® Atom D410 processor and is designed specifically for the deployment of embedded real-time measurement and control applications. By using this new controller with the NI LabVIEW system design environment, engineers can gain efficiency in a wide range of test, measurement and control applications.
NI PXIe-8364 and 8374 modules are the first PXI Express remote control products to enable direct interfacing of multiple PXI Express chassis to a single host computer in any expansion topology, without the need for complex custom solutions. The simplified interconnectivity of these modules and their PXI-based architecture increase design efficiency and overall system performance in a wide range of high-speed, high-channel data acquisition and automatic test applications, including semiconductor and RF testing.
NI also announces upgrades to its RAID (redundant array of independent disks) systems for high-speed data recording and playback, RF test and high-channel data acquisition, including a new 24TB option for the NI HDD-8265 high-speed data storage module. These new options enable engineers to achieve up to 13 hours of uninterrupted real-time data streaming at 100 MHz bandwidth. For advanced ROEM (signals intelligence) and COMINT (radio eavesdropping) applications, four NI HDD-8265 modules can be combined in a single PXI Express chassis to achieve data streaming speeds of up to 2.8 GB per second. New options for NI RAID systems include 3 TB HDD and 1 TB SSD versions of the NI 8260 chassis RAID module.
All these new products further extend an already comprehensive PXI platform, which now includes over 450 different PXI products. Engineers and scientists can associate and combine a wide range of NI PXI products, and control their entire system with LabVIEW software, enabling them to tackle any engineering challenge that comes their way.
