Wimesure and its partner SPECTRA-SYMBOL presents its range of ultra-flat linear position sensors SoftPot, HotPot and ThinPot. These film displacement sensors (0.5mm thick) are based on the widely used potentiometer technology. Indeed, potentiometers are found in many everyday objects such as radios, stereo systems, joysticks and in many variable voltage sources. As a reminder, a linear potentiometer is a resistor whose value varies proportionally to the distance between its terminals and the cursor. Our film sensors consist of a thin sheet on which a high impedance resistor is printed, as well as a sensor film with a low impedance resistance track. The support and the film are isolated by a separator. A mechanical slider allows contact between the resistance and the sensor. We thus find the classic system of potentiometers with the possibility of knowing the position of the cursor at the point of contact between the two films.
Available in angular or linear versions, these potentiometric position sensors have a measuring range from 10 to 2400 mm in several ranges for linear movements and with an outer diameter of between 25 and 450 mm for angular sensors. With a very long lifespan (> 1 million cycles), they have an IP65 degree of protection. These displacement sensors are very easy to implement thanks to a 3M adhesive.
The cursor has no electrical contact on the plastic track (plastic film). We recommend a slider that has a spherical shape with a diameter between 1.5 and 3 mm. The material can be stainless steel or nylon, delrin or any other hard plastic. The support force on the plastic track: from 0.7 to 2.2 N depending on the operating temperature.

Advantages:
• Price
• Less than 0.5 mm thick
• Linear stroke from 10 mm to 2.4 meters
• Wide ranges in diameter for rotary machines
• Easy to install thanks to a 3M adhesive
• IP 65 sensor
• No electrical contact between the cursor and the track
• Temperature of -40 +85 ° C possible 120 ° C
• Precision: less than 3%
• Its price intended for OEM applications and especially its integration into any system

Applications:
• OEM market
• Level measurement in tanks
• Measuring system in the cylinders
• Antenna orientation
