Despite a still difficult economic environment, enrolments are stable compared to last year, both at the hexagonal and international level.
In 2014, Midest orchestrates news and special operations. For the first time, it honours a North African country, Tunisia, a hexagonal region, Normandy, and will focus on the sector that supports European industry, aeronautics.
On the entertainment side, new features such as the "Destination Plasturgie MAJOR" truck, the reception by the Federation of Mechanical Industries (FIM), guidance counsellors from schools in France and a focus on 3D printing will complement the values prized by professionals returning this year, such as trophies, business meetings, conferences, the TV set...
French subcontracting remains the main offer on Midest and is expected to account for about 60% of exhibitors. The collective pavilions of the 15 French regions represented will bring together nearly 600 companies
A market in the spotlight: aeronautics
While everyone agrees that the sector is booming, Damien Lasou, Accenture's global director of aeronautics and defence, identifies three major trends that subcontractors need to adapt to.
1 - The evolution of emerging and industrialised markets
The aerospace and defence industry is growing at a faster pace in Asia than in more mature markets such as the United States and Europe. In the coming years, the increase in Asian commercial traffic will become the main growth engine of the global aviation industry [...]. The Chinese and Indian governments reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their skills and capabilities;
2 - The Extended Enterprise
It is the networking of customers, suppliers and subcontractors who bring their work together for the design, development, production, delivery and maintenance of the same product. This dynamic integrates all aspects of collaboration between these different players;
3 - The accelerated rise of software and services
Whether in civil or military aviation, today's aircraft incorporate more software than their predecessors.
The Midest fair is held from November 4 to 7 at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center.
