Hexagon Metrology announces the availability of the SENMATiQ universal sensor interface for ultra-high-precision Leitz coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Unveiled last May at Control 2015 in Stuttgart, Germany, this long-awaited system enables automatic sensor replacement within part measurement programs.
Designed to facilitate programming while maximizing machine uptime and productivity, the SENMATiQ interface is directly integrated into the vertical axis of the CMM, and uses a mechanical loading system to position the sensor without manual intervention. An integrated probe identification system instantly recognizes the sensor and checks its status. This eliminates the need for recalibration between replacements. The data collected by each sensor is recorded during the same software session, enabling users to obtain a global overview of the part using the sensor best suited to each aspect and feature.
SENMATiQ is based on a universal sensor switch and an intelligent sensor module, enabling it to support all common sensor types, including analog scanning sensors, optical sensors and vision sensors. The interface system also enables simple integration of additional sensors. It's a flexible, future-proof solution for carrying out complex measurements on the same CMM.
" In today's intelligent manufacturing environment, it's very important to have the right sensor at the right time to get the job done efficiently. SENMATiQ offers this flexibility without increasing the operator's workload, and this has a truly positive effect on productivity. "explains Micha Nenninger, Sensor Product Manager at Hexagon Metrology.
The SENMATiQ sensor kit includes the HP-S-X5 3D scanning head, which supports stylus extensions of up to 500 mm. The set also includes the HH-AS-2.5 motorized indexing measuring head, the HP-S-X1 scanning sensor and the PRECITEC-LR optical sensor for non-contact measurements on glass, transparent, matte or reflective materials.
