Rockwell Automation has invested in The Hive, a Silicon Valley innovation fund and co-creation studio, to access an ecosystem of innovators and technology startups, focused on artificial intelligence (AI) applications for industrial automation purposes. Rockwell Automation's objectives include co-creation to meet specific customer needs, accelerating innovation, and identifying new technologies that can help manufacturers improve business performance through the convergence of information technology (IT) and manufacturing technology (OT).
"Smart manufacturing requires the use of new and disruptive technologies such as AI to create future industrial facilities and supply networks that are flexible, efficient, responsive and secure. AI can help manufacturers unlock data, contextualize it and make better decisions," said Elik Fooks, senior vice president for corporate development at Rockwell Automation. "We continue to build partnerships with leading innovators, like this one with The Hive, to advance The Connected Enterprise, our vision to achieve unprecedented industrial productivity from the integration of plant and enterprise operations."
