RS Components distributes Intel's AeroReady to fly drone, the development platform based on numerous Intel technologies for rapid development of airborne applications.
The drone development kit enables professional developers with little knowledge of drone mechanics and avionics to concentrate on software and sensors, and optimize data and services. Applications include delivery, inspection and cargo monitoring, as well as construction and agriculture. The kit's open and flexible nature, together with its open source and low-cost hardware, make it ideal for schools and universities.
The Aero Intel platform offers a complete drone development ecosystem, including the Aero Compute Board, the Aero Vision Accessory kit, and the Aero Flight Controller combined with Dronecode PX4 autopilot software. The package also includes electronic speed controllers, motors, compass, GPS, transmitter/receiver and a carbon-fiber hull. The only item not included is the battery that makes the system operational.
The brains of this open-source quadricopter is the Aero Compute board, supported by a quad-core Intel Atom processor that provides computation, storage, communications and flexible I/O flow, in a package the size of a playing card. It is also equipped with Intel RealSense technology for depth of vision and a flight controller pre-programmed with Dronecode PX4 software, and also supports the AirMap SDK for air services.
The Vision Accessory Kit enables the use of vision and flight sensors thanks to its Intel RealSense R200 camera, an 8-megapixel high-resolution camera and a VGA camera, plus all the necessary cords. The Intel Aero Enclosure kit, also available, offers a mechanical enclosure designed to accommodate the Compute Board and the 3 cameras from the Vision Accessory kit. Another device available as an option for the Intel Aero Ready to Fly drome is the Movidius Neural Compute Stick (NCS), which enables advanced vision and deep machine learning.
Intel's Aero Ready to Fly drone is now available from RS in the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions.
