1983-2018: this year, IMT Lille Douai celebrates 35 years of expertise in composites, both in partnership R&D and in training (engineers and PhDs), and continues to invest in this field!
Through its TPCIM research department, this engineering school is continuing to develop its 7,500 m "Plastics & Composites" technology platform.2 investing in new equipment for the production of structural composites with thermoplastic and thermoset matrices, to complement the existing range of manufacturing processes.
Building on its expertise in polymer-based additive manufacturing (FDM/FFF and Freeformer molten thermoplastic deposition processes), IMT Lille Douai has also embarked on the development of a "LASCALA" (large scale plastics & composites 3D printing) machine for additive manufacturing of large parts (up to 5 m x 2 m x 1 m) in plastics and composites. This novel, versatile (thermoplastics reinforced or not with chopped or continuous fibers) and scalable equipment will be unveiled for the first time at JEC World 2018.
