Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announces the availability of an upgrade for Leitz PMM-C and Leitz PMM-Xi coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to increase the adaptability of these ultra-precise metrology solutions to current and future user needs.
Hexagon's scalability concept will optimize machines for operation of the intelligent Senmation sensor automation system, replacing current pre-wiring with a universal alternative. The new pre-wiring concept will be installed on all standard configurations of the Leitz PMM-C and Leitz PMM-Xi CMMs, enabling more flexible application changeover without costly downtime.
Senmation's intelligent sensor automation system enables different measuring heads to be used in a simple measurement procedure, without human interaction. Automated measurement cycles can be introduced to further save time and optimize manufacturing. This solution also reduces rework and scrap rates, forming a faster, more reliable quality assurance system.
Both Leitz PMM-C and Leitz PMM-Xi machines are now suitable for a wider range of readings, including fixed and indexable probes, as well as optical measurement options. The upgraded machines no longer require the intervention of engineers to facilitate application changes. This makes production more flexible, reduces downtime costs and enables the CMM to evolve more easily with future processes and technologies.
" We're always looking for ways to improve and perfect our CMMs, and we've taken the opportunity to make some of our best machines even better.explains Holger Fritze, Managing Director of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Germany. By introducing this concept of scalability, we aim to eliminate unnecessary downtime for our customers, speed up their measurement cycles and increase the flexibility of their workflows, now and in the future. "
From next year, the concept of scalability will be integrated into the standard configurations of Leitz PMM-C and Leitz PMM-Xi machines.
