These analyzers, which simplify the troubleshooting of frequency drives, combine three instruments in the same housing: a frequency drive analyzer, a waveform analyzer and a data logger.
RS Components has announced two motor analyzers from test and measurement instrument manufacturer Fluke. These analyzers feature tools for safely locating and solving problems commonly encountered on motor drive systems such as variable frequency drives.
The MDA-510 and MDA-550 analyzers make engineers' work easier and faster, with tools for rapid configuration of complex measurements. The troubleshooting process is also simplified, with tools to help configure and automate the measurements to be carried out on drives. Users simply select the test they wish to perform. They are then guided step-by-step through the appropriate connection of voltage and current probes. Pre-defined measurement profiles ensure data capture for each critical drive element at input, output, DC bus and motor level.
The MDA-510 analyzer guides the user through the measurement process from the power inputs to the drive's motor outputs. It provides specific information on how to perform the various measurements, and diagrams how to make the connections. These features are complemented by the analyzer's ability to measure harmonics around the fundamental frequency, as well as in the frequency band from 9 kHz to 150 kHz. The analyzer, which is fitted with appropriate probes and probe holders, also measures axis voltage.
This range of analyzers, offering four input channels for voltage and current signals, features measurement functions for key motor parameters: voltage, current, DC bus voltage level, AC ripple, voltage and current unbalance, and voltage modulation. Other electrical parameters can be measured with its built-in true oscilloscope, offering 500 MHz of bandwidth. Other tools facilitate and accelerate the creation of reports to document troubleshooting interventions. Data can be transferred to a PC via a 2 GB USB stick or mini-USB cable.
Both instruments, which come with a three-year warranty, are now being marketed by RS in the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions.
