In line with its new strategic direction "from object to life", Dassault Systèmes has announced its collaboration with the Central and South China Architectural Design Institute (CSADI) to simulate and evaluate virus dispersion in the confined environment of Leishenshan Hospital, the largest facility dedicated to infectious diseases and the treatment of patients suffering from the Covid-19 virus.
Located in Wuhan, Leishenshan's modular hospital was built in 14 days using the "modular" approach. China Speed" which took the world by surprise. The CSADI Institute and Dassault Systèmes are using the capabilities of the 3Dexperience platform to simulate the contamination and spread of the virus in the hospital's ventilation system, as well as to counter the negative effects of unplanned ventilation risks.
As a strategic partner of Dassault Systèmes in China, the CSADI Institute undertook the design of the Leishenshan Hospital. Avoiding contamination of the surrounding environment is a major challenge for CSADI, particularly in minimizing cross-infection within the facility, as well as potential repercussions on external communities, the public and the surrounding area. With this in mind, Dassault Systèmes donated Simulia XFlow software, based on the 3Dexperience platform, to CSADI. This software is designed to simulate fluid dynamics in indoor and outdoor environments, virus dispersion in ventilation systems, and other projects carried out at Leishenshan Hospital.
"Dassault Systèmes' technology is focused on life and the future. The CSADI Institute has demonstrated the ability of the " China Speed "Dassault Systèmes' advanced Simulia XFlow software was used to simulate the indoor air distribution scheme and optimize suggestions for improving contamination evacuation in negative-pressure wards, for optimum protection of hospital staff, says Zhang Shen, Director of the CASDI Institute's Center for Digital Technology and Engineering. The Simulia XFlow solution was also used to simulate the impact of gas emissions in the nearby external environment, in order to facilitate the design and choice of site for the modular hospital."
Ying Zhang, Managing Director Greater China of Dassault Systèmes, said: "Dassault Systèmes is committed to helping Chinese companies fight Covid-19 with technology, focusing on their recovery and development after the epidemic. Our interest in human life drives us to contribute positively to the environment during this epidemic, as well as to the development of future hospitals with the CSADI Institute. Every day, the 3Dexperience platform demonstrates the power of its ability to collaborate and harness the value of an experience based on 3D virtual twins. Used systematically for design, engineering and manufacturing, this platform enables seamless remote collaboration anytime, anywhere, empowering all users to understand, experience and communicate. In the context of the current crisis, our approach based on a cloud-accessible 3D collaborative platform replaces an older, slower model based on the use of documents."
