Cold embedding of porous samples for materialography

Thanks to its automatic cycle management, SimpliVac, Buehler's new vacuum impregnation system - ITW Test - Measurement GmbH increases the efficiency of coating for porous or crumbly samples. Highly efficient, according to Buehler, the device ensures a reliable and fast vacuuming without having to resort to an external pump, evacuating air trapped in the samples and allowing a deep penetration of the epoxy resin into porosities and cracks. The resulting excellent edge preservation facilitates preparation and microstructural analysis. This system is an additional tool for the treatment of fragile samples, while the cold coating method also prepares heat-sensitive parts.

The SimpliVac offers the ability to program the number of cycles, the vacuum level and the vacuum time as needed. Several successive programmable cycles can also be carried out without any intervention, in hidden time, thus optimizing the coating process. "These features make the SimpliVac a reliable ally, ensuring excellent reproducibility, including large quantities of samples, while saving operators valuable time. The SimpliVac's spacious workroom not only coats a large number of small samples at the same time, but also processes large rooms. Its compact size, for its part, saves space on the laboratory mat, according to the company. The new vacuum impregnation system is the ideal tool for quality control and research laboratories that analyze fragile samples for the aerospace, electronic production, thermal projection coatings and additive manufacturing sectors. »

For hot coating, Buehler offers a device comparable to the new SimpliVac: the SimpliMet 4000 coating. Its speed and reliability make it a solution adapted to industrial environments with high requirements for both operating capacity and coating quality.
