On the occasion of the last edition of the WNE, World Nuclear Exhibition, the Institut de Soudure Group recalled that it is now a recognized player for the seriousness and quality of its END and NDT services on the nuclear market in France and abroad, both for regulatory visits and for interventions on primary circuits (replacement of elbows and steam generators). This success is the result of the group's diversification strategy, carried out over the past fifteen years, with a turnover in the nuclear sector that now exceeds 20 million euros, representing around 20% of the group's overall activity.
Present on all CNPE in France, the group is a tier 1 service provider of EDF and intervenes alongside manufacturers, manufacturers or subcontractors, throughout the life cycles of components.
The Institute of Welding participates in the international scientific project Iter in Cadarache and is also present on the EPR site in Hinkley-Point (United Kingdom).
A specific response to incidental operations
Since this year, the group has been able to deploy a team of inspectors and technicians authorized to intervene as reinforcements, in a short time, during fortuitous operations throughout the French fleet.
Blockhouses as close as possible to the CNPE
The Welding Institute Group has several firing chambers, dedicated to the activity of industrial radiology for the prefabrication control of boilermakers, in compliance with the acceptance criteria of the construction codes RCC-M, Asme, Codeti, Codap... They are ideally distributed on French territory, with a specificity for the center of Lyon – Corbas: the possibility of firing bunkers with a cobalt 60 source (Co60). In service on the Flamanville EPR, the group also holds a GAM 400 Ci of iridium to carry out controls on high thicknesses.
Innovative controls
Present at the last WNE exhibition held in Paris-Nord Villepinte from November 20 to December 2, 2021, the group presented on its stand its global offer at the service of the nuclear industry, with two demonstrations:
• optimize coactivity industrial radiography: Gamma-Prox, a proprietary system developed by the Institute of Welding, combined with a shell and a T-Flex cover, reduces dose rate values and significantly reduces safety distances, in order to promote coactivity work
• PEhd pipe planing weld controls: the Welding Institute unveiled its ultrasonic phased pipe element control solution PEhd connected by electrofusion and the ULTRASONIC CONTROL SOLUTION TOFD (Time of flight diffraction) of piping connected by mirror welding.
