Portable and easy to use, Olympus' new 72DL Plus ultrasonic thickness meter can provide accurate thickness measurements very quickly. With Olympus' fast scanning, advanced algorithms, and the lowest minimum thickness measurement capability ever achieved by an Olympus device, you can confidently measure the thickness of very thin layers of material even in the most complex applications. Whether measuring paint thickness, coating or material, the 72DL Plus quickly delivers reliable measurements of laboratory-grade quality, maximizing productivity and performance in the production floor.

Easy control and visualization of thickness changes

Capable of displaying up to 6 layers at a time for measurement applications of multilayer coatings, paint, plastics and other materials, the meter is equipped with a color touchscreen and five measurement layouts so that changes in thickness can be precisely controlled and visualized.

Easy application setup for routine thickness measurements

The guided workflow makes it easy to create and save an application configuration. Inspectors can save and recall routine app settings, simplifying device setup before each inspection.

Modern data management adapted to Industry 4.0

The built-in data logging capability and embedded file management enable streamlined collection and processing of thick data, while the computer interface application provides intuitive tools for examining and managing data from multiple devices and parts. Adapted to Industry 4.0 practices thanks to its connectivity and compatibility with the "cloud", the meter supports wireless LAN, Bluetooth technology, USB connectivity and integrates with the Olympus Scientific Cloud (OSC).

Robustness adapted to the production workshop

Designed for industrial environments, the meter can be used indoors and outdoors, on a work surface or using a four-point chest strap or shoulder strap. It meets military drop resistance standards (MIL-STD-810G) for protection against falls or accidental impacts, is designed to meet IP65 requirements against dust and moisture, and provides reliable measurements in hot and cold climates thanks to an impressive operating temperature range from -10°C to 50°C.

Thickness measuring models for a variety of applications

72DL Plus thickness meters are available in standard and high frequency models. The high-frequency model can drive probe frequencies of up to 125 MHz for measuring ultra-thin materials, including multilayer paints, plastics, metals and coatings, and simultaneously display the thickness of up to six layers. The 72DL Plus provides measurement speeds of up to 2 kHz, a display refresh rate of 60 Hz and clear signals for fast accurate measurements.
