It's been six long years since the CND "family" got together to celebrate innovation. This will be the case from June 6 to 8 at the Parc Chanot in Marseille for the tenth edition of the Cofrend Days.
"Les END, voir et prévoir". It is under this central theme that Cofrend brings together the entire NDT community. Scientists, industrialists, institutions, partners, students, etc. are all invited to this major gathering. All are invited to this major gathering, which had not been able to take place since the Strasbourg edition in 2017. The community has been impatient, so many innovations and technical developments in the field have taken place in recent years. " We received a record number of abstracts this year - 230 - from which we had to select the 186 papers that will make up the Journées program. Five scientific conference sessions will be held in parallel over the three days of the congress, the most we could do. "Pierre Calmon, Chairman of the Scientific Committee made up of academic and industrial experts. This technical and scientific content constitutes the great wealth of the Cofrend Days, which remains the event at which engineers and researchers present the most recent advances and results to their peers. And to get the technical and scientific program off to a good start, Cofrend organizes a major plenary conference. " Cofrend is delighted to announce that Pietro Barabaschi, General Manager of Iter, has honored us by agreeing to give the inaugural conference of the Journées, on Tuesday June 6. Iter is currently the world's most ambitious energy project, taking on a host of technological challenges, including non-destructive testing during component manufacture and on-site assembly. It makes a major contribution to the international reputation of France and the Southern Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, and the opening of the Cofrend Days by Mr. Barabaschi further enhances the impact of the event. "says Mireille Rapin, President of Cofrend's Events and Communications Department. The scientific program for the 2023 event reflects the technological changes underway in a number of industrial sectors, a clear sign that NDT is an integral part of innovation. " Traditionally, the program was organized around themes centered on the various techniques. This year, however, we have decided to present a scientific program organized around the cross-disciplinary topics that are currently driving the community. For example, there will be sessions on inspection and additive manufacturing, NDT digitization, statistical learning and artificial intelligence, and robotized NDT. "says Pierre Calmon.
Simultaneous events
The technical and scientific program does not forget doctoral students. Participants in the Cofrend days will be able to discover the posters of some twenty young researchers at the 6th edition of the Doctoriales - a competition organized every 18 months to promote their research work. A special feature of the 2023 edition will be a presentation session entitled "ma thèse en 180 secondes" (my thesis in 180 seconds), which will take place on the first evening of the congress. The Cofrend-Claude Birac Prize will be awarded at the end of the doctoral students' pitches and during the poster exhibition.
On June 7, SHM@Cofrend, the annual meeting of the SHM community (Structural Health Monitoring).
June 7 is Open Day for young people. This "Open Day", set up with the support of the Aix-Marseille education authority, is aimed at students in the region, to give them a better understanding of the various CND professions, training courses and the many companies that are recruiting.
Spending time together
How do you bring together more than 2,500 people expected to attend a 3-day event in Marseille? By offering a rich program of conferences, of course, but also by offering them the chance to spend time together. Particularly in the exhibition area. " The 5,000 m2 available for the Exhibitors' Village has been allocated to accommodate 80 stands. Manufacturers, service providers and training organizations will benefit from the regular visits of Journées participants, as we will be organizing coffee breaks and lunches in the center of this Village. What's more, to distinguish the scientific program from the market conferences, we'll be holding sales presentations open to exhibitors in this area. "says Mireille Rapin. This success reflects the community's need to get together and share. To further encourage the exchange of ideas, Cofrend is organizing its gala evening on Wednesday evening. "We will be welcomed at the Palais du Pharo for a dinner with a full view of Marseille's Old Port lit up all evening... *", emphasizes Mireille Rapin.
Finally, on the last day, Friday morning, participants can sign up for visits to the region's emblematic industries and research centers.
" The program for Cofrend 2023 reflects the changes currently taking place in the field of non-destructive testing and inspection. "concludes Pierre Calmon
