At the end of negotiations started more than 6 months ago, the Sofranel Group (Sofranel, Srem Technologies, Isartel, Camm), has just finalized the acquisition of Balteau, Belgian manufacturer of X-ray generators from Sonatest, its former shareholder .
Well known throughout the world for its ranges of portable constant and pulsed voltage BALTOSPOT generators, its stationary generators and BALTOGRAPH systems and its Crawlers, the company Balteau employs 30 people in its Liège factory and since 1906 has distributed its products in more than 60 countries. . In France, the products are distributed by Cegelec.
For Frédéric Carpentier, Managing Director of Balteau and initiator of the project, this new stage, in which the main managers of the company are associated with the support of a Belgian Regional Investment Fund, will enable Balteau through its approach with a new a recognized industrial partner, to gain in reactivity, complementarity and consolidate an ambitious five-year technical and commercial development plan.
Through this acquisition, the Sofranel Group confirms the development of its "manufacturing" division of NDT equipment (magnetoscopy, ressuage, radiology, multi-technical systems...) in addition to its historical activity as a "distributor" of Foucault's ultrasound and current equipment as well as consumables radiology and magnetoscopy.
Pierre Husarek, CEO of the Group, indicates that the acquisition of Balteau is part of a process for Sofranel to set up the leading European group for the manufacture of Non-Destructive Control equipment and that other acquisitions are planned in this direction. The year 2011 should therefore confirm this orientation.
