A few weeks ago, in the wake of the acquisition of BalteauPierre Husarek, CEO of Sofranelannounced that his group would not stop there, and that further acquisitions were underway to achieve its goal of becoming Europe's leading manufacturer of non-destructive testing equipment (see our news item).
A promise made, a promise kept. Sofranelcombined with Chinese (from Hong Kong) De Hua Materials Testing (a distributor of NDT equipment), has just taken over the British company Sonatest. This is the culmination of a long operation that began in November 2010 with an initial purchase of 17.10 % of the British company's capital.
Sonatest is a company that Sofranel is no stranger to ultrasonic controllers for non-destructive testing and coating thickness measurement applications. It will also be recalled that Sonatest was the parent company of Balteauwhich it recently sold to Sofranel.
In terms of products, Sonatest distinguished itself in 2009 with the RapidScan3D, a 3D scanning system integrating the FaroArm measuring arm, eliminating the need for costly immersion tanks and tooling. The RapidScan3DIl also reduces the time needed to locate and identify defects and anomalies.
