IS Group takes control of Composite Integrity, its joint subsidiary with EPP

Sylvain de Lescazes, president of the Institut de Soudure group, has signed an agreement with Claude Trink, president of PPE (Eastern Plasturgy) that strengthens the establishment of the Institut de Soudure group in the composites market.

This agreement allows the Institut de Welding Group to extend its activities, mainly focused on metal materials, to composite materials. The Group is thus positioning itself in a fast-growing market, particularly in the transport sector, whether in aeronautics or automotive.

Thanks to its national and international territorial network and its portfolio of more than 8,000 customers, this operation must contribute significantly to the development of the Institute of Welding Group in the composite materials sector. Its ambition is to eventually become a leader in the fields of multi-material assembly and associated NDT.

By integrating PPE's research and development and engineering activities within its scope, the Institute of Welding Group is its fourth industrial platform to develop assembly and control technologies for industrialists. The composite platform that will enable the development of processes for continuous fiber composite materials complements the assembly, mechanical, corrosion and industrial maintenance platforms.

The Institute of Welding Group and EPP have been working in addition and have been cooperating since 2007, both on European research and development projects but also through their joint subsidiary created in 2010, Composite Integrity, which specialises in non-destructive control of composite parts. The signed agreement allows the Institut de Welding Group to acquire full control of this subsidiary, which will be equipped with a mechanical testing and analysis laboratory for composite materials sold by EPP. This laboratory is the subject of a significant investment for the upgrade of its aeronautical certifications and the acquisition of new chemical and mechanical characterization equipment. It will be operational in the coming weeks.
