The production line inspection system for electric resistance welded tubes is a turnkey solution which integrates multi-element ultrasonic technology into a fully automated system to meet the most stringent requirements. Key benefits include
- Automatic detection of heat-affected zones
- Real-time visualization weld profile
- Automatic calibration avoids dependence on operator skills
- Indication detection at production speedthanks to similar speed conditions during calibration checks
- Reduced risk of equipment damage with tube detector
Designed for ease of use, this solution guarantees the quality of electric resistance welded tubes after welding, annealing and sizing. The system includes the following:
- Dedicated project management software
- Devices, probes and mechanical equipment
- Water management system
- Quick View software
- Commissioning, training and after-sales service
Welding monitoring and profiling during fault finding
A cylindrical multi-element probe (PA) positioned on either side of the weld enables clockwise or anti-clockwise inspection. To track and profile the weld, a cylindrical multi-element probe located on the weld performs zero degree shots. The decoiling zone is automatically located, and the weld is profiled to produce a side view for rapid analysis.
- Extensive coverage of the heat-affected zone
- Constant monitoring of weld profile and heat-affected zone for analysis without cutting the pipe
- Maintains a constant amplitude throughout the inspected zone, even in the presence of mechanical movements
- New water column shoes that allow many degrees of freedom to adapt to tube movement and ensure excellent coupling.
Automatic weld tracking
Our unique algorithm, based on time-of-flight analysis, automatically detects the de-coring zone and sends the information to the PLC, which automatically sets the inspection parameters for each water column shoe.
Fast inspections, high-quality results
Our high-speed inspection systems are designed to meet the productivity demands of the metal fabrication industry. They meet the highest international quality standards, without compromising on efficiency.
- Set up more than one acoustic configuration for the same PA probe: separate transmit-receive or high-angle reflection modes can be programmed to inspect mid-wall damage.
- The compact, automated support gantry enables the inspection head to be positioned in inspection or analysis mode for inspections, automatic calibration or maintenance tasks.
- Calibration bench for automatic calibration or for setting calibration verification sequences at normal speed.
Automatic calibration
To ensure thorough inspection, each PA probe must be perfectly calibrated. During the calibration process, the gain level of each probe is automatically set by scanning for a known fault. This feature makes it easy to calibrate each focal law precisely, and saves time without relying on operator skill.
- Verification of calibration under normal production conditions
- Each reference fault is checked to ensure that it is detected above the alarm level
- Easy-to-interpret results display
