Creaform, manufacturer of automated portable 3D measurement solutions, has announced the launch of the HandySCAN Aeropack, a 3D scanning package designed to solve quality control problems in the aerospace industry. For example, it can be used to assess damage caused by hailstorms or aircraft incidents, or to inspect flaps and ailerons. The HandySCAN Aeropack can also be used for reverse engineering, maintenance and repair, as well as for the design of hard-to-source parts.
The HandySCAN Aeropack solution includes :
- HandySCAN 3DTM : the aerospace industry's leading metrology-grade portable 3D scanner is designed to acquire accurate, repeatable and reliable measurements, and digitize complex surfaces and parts of all sizes, even in unfavorable environments such as aircraft hangars and workshops.
- SmartDENT 3DTM: aircraft surface inspection software for evaluation of flaps, ailerons, fuselage, etc.
- VXinspectTM : a dimensional inspection software module for quality control processes and inspection reports.
- VXmodelTM : a software module for post-processing and finalizing 3D scan data in any CAD software.
Intuitive and user-friendly for operators of all skill levels, the HandySCAN Aeropack optimizes the efficiency of quality control and reverse engineering processes, reducing the user's influence on measurement results and speeding up the creation of final reports or CAD designs. With its unrivalled efficiency, the HandySCAN Aeropack makes no concessions when it comes to diagnostic results and safety.
HandySCAN 3D is part of the Airbus technical equipment manual, which is referenced in its Structural Repair Manual. It is also part of Boeing's service letters, and can therefore be used to record the physical attributes of dents on aircraft, for all Boeing commercial airplanes.
"The aerospace industry is facing increasing challenges due to accelerated manufacturer innovation, stringent regulatory standards and passenger safety concerns, all of which are driving up the cost of stranded aircraft and profitability targets," explains Jérôme-Alexandre Lavoie, Product Manager at Creaform. Since the HandySCAN Aeropack was designed with this in mind, airlines can finally overcome these challenges with our solution."
