Based in Quebec City, Canada, Eddyfi/NDT announced in early February the acquisition of Irish company NDT Global through a strategic partnership with Novacap and the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. Headquartered in Dublin, and with significant operational activities in Stutensee, Germany, NDT Global is a leading provider of in-line ultrasonic pipeline inspection and data analysis.
The Quebec-based company recently announced the acquisition of Halfwave, headquartered in Bergen, Norway. Halfwave owns the patented Acoustic Resonance (Art) technology, an ultrasonic inspection technique that enables high-precision measurements, even in imperfect conditions and without the need for liquid coupling. Halfwave is currently active worldwide in underwater inspection and in-line pipeline inspection. The company has over 70 employees and additional offices in Oslo (Norway) and Houston (Texas, USA).
"We are first and foremost a NDT technology company. The uniqueness and exclusivity of Art's technology was an opportunity we couldn't pass up. This acquisition creates real synergies for our group, which is very positive for all three of our business units: Eddyfi Technologies will benefit from a new modality to create a multitude of new applications, TSC Subsea will add a second highly differentiated modality to its offering, and NDT Global will now be able to officially enter the in-service gas pipeline inspection segment and present a competitive alternative to Emat for stress crack detection. Overall, the transaction strengthens Eddyfi/NDT's positioning as a provider of high-end, high-performance solutions, without being limited to any particular modality."says Martin Thériault, President and CEO of Eddyfi/NDT.
