EMC, the latest subsidiary of the Emitech Group, is no stranger to engine design and validation. The specialist in sustainable mobility solutions has been in existence since 1993. In addition to "combustion engine testing", the acronym from which the company takes its name, EMC also carries out tests on electric and hybrid powertrains.
The Eclair test bench was designed by the EMC design office. It is used for various types of tests on electrical machines used in electrified powertrains. It is designed for all types of customers, from automakers to automotive equipment suppliers, as well as for other applications such as aeronautics and defense.
To be able to carry out these test campaigns, the e-Motor bench (Eclair bench) must be able to operate at high speed and with high torque. EMC teams have succeeded in developing a test bed capable of reaching 22,000 rpm and 510 Nm of torque. This performance is the result of a major engineering effort (particularly in terms of vibratory dimensioning).
The e-Motor test bench enables electrical machines and inverters to be tested in climatic environments, using a climatic chamber to reproduce temperature variations ranging from -45°C to +120°C for ambient conditions, and from -30°C to +120°C for fluids. In terms of power supply, the test bench features a high-performance battery simulator: 250 kW / 1000V / 1000A.
This bench, installed on the Achères site, can be reserved for customer test campaigns with the test team. EMC is also a supplier of test equipment, so this bench can be duplicated for customers wishing to set up their own in-house test facilities.
