This offer of compressing presses completes Medelpharm's portfolio of products and brands in the treatment of powders. This contract supports the strategy of the Medelpharm Distribution division, which aims to dominate the powder compression market, from R&D to production in the fields of pharmacy, chemistry, food supplements and cosmetics.
Korsch has been developing and producing exclusively compressing machines and systems for regulation, tablet verification and data analysis since 1919. The German company offers a wide range of machines, from pilot equipment to high-capacity production rotaries. Renowned for their quality and technological advance, these presses cover the most varied applications up to 5-layer and double-core tablets. The equipment also meets the most advanced containment needs as well as specific applications such as very large tablets (battery, salt, laundry, ...).
The "Medelpharm Science Lab", based near Lyon, is open to demonstrations and tests of compression and grinding. Scientists at the Science Lab carry out custom studies, assist and train customers on equipment. They also accompany them on formulation optimization, powder characterization and particle engineering. "Our application laboratory offers several laboratory services such as powder and formulation characterization, formulation support, compression testing, troubleshooting and scaleup assistance",says Thomas Perron, Sales Manager Distribution.
The SME has aggregated services and equipment around needs. It can support a customer during the R&D phases, scale transposition phases and production phases thanks to its internal skills (in terms of compression simulators and expertise in powder compression) and the partners for whom it is an agent or distributor on French territory. For example, it works with laboratories for applications in formulation, granulation, coating and atomization of Xedev powder. And also offers Korsch R&D and production rotary presses, Quadro-Fitzpatrick grinding and sieving equipment, Granutools powder characterization equipment (flow, packed density and electrostatic charge can thus be characterized), LB Bohle production equipment (weighing systems, mixing handling, wet granulation, dry granulation and film coating for production) , systems for wet granulation, film coating, extrusion and atomization of Procept brand R&D powders, and Caleva R&D extruder and spheronizer.
"An industrialist in the field of pharmacy who has established his formulation to manufacture tablets can, for example, ask us to study the compressibility of his formulation. The characteristics of the powders will be studied for all the components of the formulation in terms of morphogranulometry, flow, packed density and true density for example. The sensitivity to electrostatic charge can also be checked, before subjecting the powder to compression tests. On very low volumes of powders, our Styl'One Evo press is able to reproduce the linear movement speed of the punches of rotary production presses and thus allow to analyze the behavior of a powder at high production speeds. Medelpharm is mainly aimed at the pharmaceutical industry and to a lesser extent at chemical manufacturers, producers of food supplements and agri-food players. Cosmetics represent an increasingly important market. With a notable feature: a growing activity in the field of solid cosmetics, in dry form. Styl'One Nano: an R&D tablet press for laboratory bench
Designed by Medelpharm, Styl'One Nano is an R&D tablet press for a laboratory bench with functions and features unprecedented in its class. Intended for scientific formulators, this equipment allows the formulation and characterization of powders in compression for the pharmaceutical, neutraceutical, chemical and agri-food industries.
Its advantage: to be able to offer native compression profiles described in the <1062>USP, profiles serving as a reference for the characterization of powders in compression (extended holding time, V-profiles, simple compression, pre-compression and main compression). The ability to reproduce main pre-compression and compression cycles just like rotary presses makes it a new tool on the market.
