JT ISO/IEC 17025 - First assessment after the transition

Since 2017, calibration and testing laboratories have had to evolve their systems to adopt the new version of ISO/IEC 17025. Favoring a risk-based approach, with an emphasis on impartiality, it came as no surprise to those who had prepared for it, nor to those who had already put in place processes compatible with these new requirements. For the others, on the other hand, it was necessary to carry out in-depth work in order to adapt and respond to the requirements as best as possible, sometimes with difficulties in understanding the requirements and their purpose. In addition, the metrological requirements applicable to laboratories have been clarified, which has also led some laboratories to reinforce their arrangements.
In this changing context, laboratories have been able to adapt. Today, the foundations have been laid. The time has come to step back and exploit the potential for improvement, in particular to optimize the resources needed to maintain accreditation on a long-term basis.
