Windchill's Next Generation Delivers SaaS PLM Benefits for Digital Transformation
PTC today announced the release of Windchill+. its product lifecycle management (PLM) software. Windchill+ is a new generation of the market-leading Windchill software offered by the company with a modern SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) architecture. By leveraging the benefits of SaaS, Windchill+ facilitates collaboration around product data and enables product development teams to accelerate PLM time-to-market and deployment.
"For more than two decades, many of the world's most modern manufacturing companies have used Windchill to design, develop and manufacture their products," said Jim Heppelmann, president and CEO of PTC. " Our Windchill product line opens up an exciting new future with Windchill+ delivering the full power of PLM for digital transformation while simplifying the deployment, use and update of software solution versions through the use of a modern SaaS architecture."
Analysts estimate that manufacturers have invested more than $450 billion in digital transformation initiatives in 2021, with SaaS adoption accelerating due in part to the global pandemic. For many companies, PLM is increasingly seen as the backbone of digital transformation, and SaaS PLM solutions are now seen as " the product data storage system that provides digital continuity that connects complex people, processes, and systems in a closed loop that spans the entire product lifecycle ." "According to Frank Della Rosa, research vice president, SaaS, business platforms, and Industry Cloud, at IDC.
Windchill+ combines the transformational benefits of a modern SaaS architecture with the speed, agility and interoperability of PLM. By adopting SaaS, customers reduce the number of existing applications and solutions installed on-premises. They can move from implementation to controlled use of PLM with speed and simplicity and easily accelerate PLM adoption across the enterprise. Windchill+ makes it faster, easier and more secure to collaborate with external supply chain partners. PTC will leverage Windchill+'s SaaS architecture to provide customers with new PLM releases and capabilities over time.
