Liquids, solids, milk, chemical solvents, lime kiln: when it comes to solving challenges such as hard-to-reach measuring points, dusty environments or extreme process temperatures, this new generation provides the right solution. Available for the first time on radar, the Ehernet APL makes it possible to exchange high-speed data with sensors even in explosive areas.

The assistants integrated into the SmartBlue application available on smartphones facilitate the use of the sensors. In addition to proven digital communication protocols such as HART or Profibus, the new generation also relies on innovative communication technologies such as Ethernet-APL. The outstanding measurement performance of the new radar chip, combined with the intelligent monitoring feature Heartbeat Technology, helps increase productivity. This new generation of Micropilot radars offers solutions that make processes easier to use, more efficient and safer.

Simplicity at every level

The next-generation 80 GHz radar sensor range for level measurement offers solutions for virtually any radar application. Thanks to the compact design of the device, it can be used in confined installation situations. Suitable versions are also available for harsh process conditions such as aggressive environments or extreme temperatures.

Commissioning and using the Micropilot range is simple and intuitive. Users are guided through the process by built-in wizards, which helps avoid mistakes and operate the devices without the need for special training. Parameter configuration and subsequent validation tests are also guided. Thanks to a Bluetooth interface, the devices can be easily controlled remotely via the Endress+Hauser SmartBlue app. In conjunction with Heartbeat Technology, processes can be continuously monitored and checks completed in less than three minutes without even stopping the installation.

In addition, thanks to the HistoRom mobile data memory, measurement point parameters can be transferred error-free from one sensor to another when replacing electronics. The repair of the device is done quickly and without problems, without requiring specialized knowledge on the part of the user.

Measurement performance and reduced calibration costs

The outstanding measurement performance of the radar chip developed by Endress+Hauser increases the productivity of industrial processes.

Heartbeat Technology, developed by Endress+Hauser, provides reliable diagnostic and monitoring data and enables predictive maintenance through its constant monitoring of anomalies such as foam or clogging. Device checks can be completed in less than three minutes without the need for disassembly.

The patented Radar Accuracy Index in combination with Heartbeat Technology verification enables traceable verification in accordance with Din ISO 9001 for the first time.

This significantly reduces the effort and costs associated with calibration and documentation and, above all, significantly lengthens calibration cycles. State-of-the-art communication modes, such as Profibus PA, Ethernet-APL or HART, also improve plant availability. Ethernet-APL in particular allows a simple and efficient digitization of existing installations. Easy integration into asset management systems and increasing self-diagnostics mean plant downtime is largely avoided and production throughput is increased.

Maximum safety for personnel, facilities and process

Systematic errors, unintentional handling and driving anomalies are all risks to the safety of installations.

Micropilot 80 GHz radars meet all safety requirements.

Developed in accordance with IEC 61508, Micropilot 80 GHz radars are suitable for SIL2 or SIL3 applications, e.g. with consistent redundancy.

A step-by-step mode guides the user through commissioning, parameter configuration or even SIL testing, and thanks to the Bluetooth® interface, functional checks, SIL tests or parameter change are possible away from the danger zone.

The new state-of-the-art communication mode of Ethernet-APL makes it possible to monitor and control the device for the first time via an integrated web server.
The new colour display makes it easier to gather information: it changes from green to red in the event of an error, providing an immediate overview of the status.

Ethernet APL

Available for the first time on radar, the Ehernet APL makes it possible to exchange high-speed data with sensors even in explosive areas.

Heartbeat Technology

Whether it's clogging detection, foaming or power cable deterioration, Heartbeat Technology helps anticipate before a shutdown occurs. In addition, the new Radar Accuracy Index (RAI) reliably monitors device deviation (ISO 9001 compatible).

The many assistants integrated into the Micropilot make it as easy as possible for the operator to use at each stage, for all communication media (PC, phone, tablet).

Risk reduction

Developed according to IEC 61508, the new range of radar level sensors can be used in SIL 2 or SIL 3 (redundancy) applications. Remote locking and testing capabilities are available even via Bluetooth via a protocol encrypted by Endress+Hauser in order to operate on devices, while remaining safe out of hazardous areas (Atex, pods/ladders, radioactive area).

State-of-the-art technical specifications:
– Temperature: –196 to +450 °C

– Pressure: –1 to +160 bar

– Maximum measuring range: 80 m

– Accuracy: ±1 mm

– Process connections: thread and flanges

– Extended certifications: certificates for Atex zones, developed according to IEC 61508 for SIL 2 or 3 applications (redundant), factory calibration certificate (3, 5 or 10 points), traceable good functioning control according to ISO 9001, material certificate 3.1, marine approval...
