Invensys Operations Management, an international provider of technology, systems, software solutions and consulting services to the manufacturing and infrastructure industries, has announced the acquisition of Spiral Software, a privately held company based in Cambridge, UK.
Founded in 1998, Spiral Software provides integrated solutions ranging from oil data management to refinery supply chain optimization, enabling customers to make the best possible choices in crude oil trading and refining. At the forefront of the industry, Spiral's crude oil information management tools help companies monitor crude quality and plan refining operations. Fully integrated, refining operations planning and programming contribute to the optimization of production plans based on crude demand and real-time market rates, as well as refinery capacity and supply chain constraints.
Spiral Software's crude information management tools provide accurate and timely information to the entire company, enabling crudes to be classified, refining processes optimized and profitability optimized. Spiral Software's planning and programming solution provides a multi-user collaborative environment that encourages sharing common data and models throughout the supply chain. Planning activities such as crude oil purchases and product sales can now be permanently adapted to the production schedule, in response to the market and operating conditions. At the same time, programming decisions can be made with their commercial impact in mind, and evolve if necessary. This integrated risk analysis feature allows users to choose between several different planning and programming scenarios, helping refiners identify risks associated with fluctuating crude oil costs, changing demand and refining operations.
The company will continue to be managed by Spiral Software's existing management team, and will strengthen Invensys' workforce in the UK and North America.
