I am Charlie.
Why is a professional media outlet like ours also Charlie?
Because the press is a story of men and women. As human beings, we cannot remain unreactionless and emotionless about what happened yesterday. We're affected.
The professional press is no different. The professional press is the press. And it was our colleagues who were targeted, attacked and shot yesterday.
We join the movements of solidarity and rejection of the expression of his freedom. We associate ourselves with the text signed by the main professional organizations that we reproduce below.
The media community is in shock after the attack on his colleague Charlie Hebdo was extremely cowardly and serious. All publishers express their greatest indignation and emotion, and wish to express their deep solidarity with the Charlie Hebdo teams and their support for the victims and their loved ones. Today, this terrorist attack takes another step in the escalation of violence and terror. It is the most serious that France has had to endure in decades. By attacking an editorial, the perpetrators of this particularly heinous act have targeted the freedom of the press. They are attacking freedom of expression and democracy, fundamental republican values shared by all. The honour of the publishers' community is to affirm more than ever its solidarity with its friends of "Charlie Hebdo" for the defense and illustration of press freedom. It is also to declare that it will never give in to threats and intimidation to the intangible principles of freedom of expression. The publishers and all the employees of the French press send their deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to all the employees of "Charlie Hebdo".
