Mecachrome, one of the world's leading manufacturers of mechanical parts, assemblies and boilermaking, primarily for the aerospace industry, announces the appointment of Christian Cornille, 56, as its new President. After 30 years with Airbus, Christian Cornille will bring to the French group his recognized industrial expertise and knowledge of the aeronautics sector, to help this flagship of French industry shine on the international stage.
A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des arts et métiers (ENSAM), Christian Cornille began his career in the aerospace industry in 1988. For 12 years, he managed various industrial units, including the mechanical skills center that produced rotors and gearboxes for Eurocopter, now Airbus Helicopters. In the early 2000s, he joined EADS Socata and quickly took over as Industrial Director of the light aircraft manufacturer, as well as Director of Aerostructures. In 2007, he moved to Airbus to take part in the Power 8 transformation program, in particular the project to overhaul the aircraft manufacturer's European industrial footprint.
In 2009, Christian Cornille became the first Chairman of Aérolia, which has since become Stélia Aerospace. He contributed to the development of the company, which became a major player in aerostructures thanks to its international successes with Bombardier and Embraer. Christian Cornille returned to his first love in 2014 when he was appointed Executive Vice President Airbus Helicopters, where he undertook a far-reaching industrial transformation.
After 30 years with Airbus, Christian Cornille becomes President of Mecachrome, Amboise. In addition to his perfect knowledge of the market and Mecachrome's businesses, Christian Cornille brings his industrial experience to bear in meeting the challenges of the industry of the future and accelerating its 4.0 transformation: "Mecachrome must strengthen its strategic position with its customers in all its business sectors, and then become a key player on the global aerospace scene. I know I can count on committed, motivated and professional teams to succeed in these challenges," explains the new Chairman, who will take up his post at the beginning of April 2019.
