The new Artec Ray II laser scanner, a new-generation high-precision long-range 3D laser scanner, is 10 times faster than its predecessor, the Artec Ray.
Artec 3D, a global specialist in 3D scanning technology, has announced the launch of the Artec Ray II, a high-precision LiDAR 3D scanner designed to scan large objects and spaces with unprecedented speed and accuracy. Developed in collaboration with Hexagon subsidiary Leica Geosystems, the scanner combines the expertise and innovation of these two industry leaders. With its ability to capture a complete dome in 1.7 minutes, and a 3D point accuracy of 1.9 mm at 10 meters, the Artec Ray II is ideal for creating digital twins of large-scale objects and complex scenes.
Data from the Artec Ray II can be seamlessly combined in the Artec Studio software with data from other Artec 3D scanners, such as the Artec Leo, an intuitive wireless handheld scanner that can produce highly detailed scans of specific areas of large objects, resulting in truly comprehensive 3D models.
Offering a unique proposition on the market, the Ray II, combined with the Artec Leo, is ideal for creating digital twins of objects from wind turbines to boat propellers, aircraft to bridges to factory floors, and even complex crime scenes and archaeological sites. It takes 3D data capture to the next level, and delivers metrology-grade accuracy with an angular precision of 18″ (0.87 mm @10m) and a range accuracy of 1.0 mm + 10 ppm.
"Artec 3D is committed to innovation and constantly expanding its range of 3D scanning solutions, and our collaboration with Leica Geosystems on the development of the Artec Ray II is a perfect illustration of this," said Art Yukhin, President and CEO of Artec 3D. We can now offer a unique combination of two fast-capture wireless scanners: one long-range, the other handheld. This multiplies the possibilities of rapidly capturing high-precision data for inspection, reverse engineering, forensics and the creation of lifelike digital twins."
Beyond its remarkable scanning speed, the Artec Ray II boasts a range of features designed to enhance the scanning experience and the quality of results. The scanner is equipped with automated target-free field registration, real-time alignment and a double scan function for automatic deletion of moving objects. With its touchscreen and mobile device interface, as well as rain and dust protection (IP54), the Artec Ray II is a robust, user-friendly solution, designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
To ensure uninterrupted scanning sessions, the Artec Ray II comes with four batteries and a charger. The scanner operates with two batteries at a time, hot-swappable by the other two without the need to switch off the device.
