Keysight Technologies introduces a new compact four-channel Vector Signal Generator (VSG), capable of generating signals up to 8.5 GHz with a modulation bandwidth of 960 MHz per channel. Among Keysight's X-series signal generators, the N5186A MXG is the next-generation high-performance VSG that delivers the multiple, individually complex signals essential for dense, broadband multichannel applications.
Evolving technologies in wireless communications and radar applications require higher frequency coverage and the use of complex modulation schemes such as MIMO, beamforming and multiplexing to maximize data throughput. Testing these applications requires signal generation instruments that maintain excellent modulation quality when working with larger bandwidths. To achieve higher frequencies, wider bandwidths and more complex modulation schemes, network engineers and designers generally need more space for additional test equipment and fixtures.
The Keysight N5186A MXG responds to this challenge, simplifying complex configurations with reduced external connections and up to four channels in a compact 2U format. The world's first signal generator to integrate a reflectometer, the N5186A MXG delivers highly accurate signals to the device under test (DUT).
The MXG N5186A offers the following advantages:

By delivering consistent, reproducible results, the N5186A MXG vector signal generator is an ideal solution for a wide range of commercial, aerospace and defense applications. The MXG's custom DAC application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) use DDS to provide accurate signals to minimize distortion and meet evolving standards for component and module design. What's more, the built-in reflectometer speeds up the setup process to correct the DUT match, speeding up test time.
