Creaform, an Ametek business unit and global specialist in portable and automated 3D measurement solutions, today announced the release of the latest addition to its flagship HandySCAN 3D range, the Max series.
The Max Series range of portable industrial 3D scanners, designed and manufactured in Canada, offers an impressive 3D scanning area of around 1 x 1 m, and has been developed to achieve precise 3D measurements of large, complex surfaces. With a multi-scan mode that allows users to choose between speed or maximum resolution, the new portable 3D scanners offer professionals a level of versatility that enables them to optimally measure large assemblies and parts (up to 15 m). By combining the effect of speed, extra-large measurement volume, accuracy, portability and simplicity, the new scanners enable a simpler, more efficient and robust measurement process for parts typically found in aerospace, transportation, energy, mining and heavy industries, among others.
Thanks to its volumetric performance of 0.100 mm + 0.015 mm/m, ISO 17025 approval and compliance with VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3, the Max series delivers metrology-class results, making it ideal for quality control, precision linking of high-tolerance parts and demanding reverse engineering of large parts. What's more, the new scanners still feature Creaform's powerful dynamic referencing algorithms, enabling accurate and rigorous 3D scanning of any object, whether in the lab, on the shop floor or in the field.
The system is plug and play and quick to set up. 3D scans can be easily and seamlessly integrated into all CAD software, speeding up and simplifying product development, 3D inspection and reverse engineering of large assemblies and parts.
The Max series has all the qualities that have made the HandySCAN 3D range an industry benchmark: true portability, blue laser technology, integrated photogrammetry, live meshing and more. It also offers key new features that are sure to simplify any scanning process:
- Flexible volume: allows the user to scan with outstanding quality from a short nominal distance, and to measure large parts quickly from a further nominal distance.
- Intelligent surface algorithm: its sophisticated image processing, combined with artificial intelligence, optimizes surface measurements for unrivalled tracking, improved performance, better readings on difficult contrasting finishes and a simpler scanning process.
- Real-time calibration: the Max series integrates calibration directly into the scanning workflow, automatically and seamlessly.
"Once again, Creaform is bringing impressive measurement capabilities out of the metrology labs and enabling manufacturers around the world to measure everything, everywhere and very accurately. Measuring large, complex 3D surfaces with a portable device used to be very difficult or, in some cases, even impossible. The unique capability of the Max series fills this gap and provides innovative dimensional measurement solutions to many of the manufacturers we've met over the years."says Simon Côté, Product Manager at Creaform.
