Introduced to the market by Emerson, Micro Motion's G Series Coriolis flowmeter and densimeter offers, in a much smaller and lighter format, the same level of quality and reliability as standard models. Compared with traditional volumetric flowmeters, it offers direct mass flow measurement, immunity to process temperature/pressure variations, and advanced process and equipment status diagnostics.
Emerson also offers the Micro Motion 4700 Coriolis transmitter, which opens up new application possibilities within its Micro Motion range of Coriolis flowmeters. This transmitter can be fitted to most existing Micro Motion transducers, and is controllable with all new flowmeters, including the new Micro Motion G Series. The combination of these two innovations is considered an ideal solution for chemical and other industrial applications.
Micro Motion G Series flow and density meters
Available with compliance with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), as well as SIL 2 and SIL 3 safety integrity level certification, and designed to meet Namur NE 132 directives, Micro Motion G Series flowmeters are suitable for chemical plants looking to enhance safety, reduce energy consumption and minimize emissions. Aseptic models will also be available from the first half of 2024, meeting the needs of the food & beverage, life sciences and other applications requiring 3-A certification or compliance with European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) standards.
Although Coriolis flowmeters do not require long straight sections upstream or downstream, unlike many other flowmetering technologies, some models can have a larger footprint, limiting their use in confined spaces. Emerson's new flowmeters solve this problem by offering a flange-to-flange dimension of less than 300 mm for the DN25 pipe diameter model. This compact design is also associated with a significant reduction in weight: an advantage in terms of transport, installation and safety.
The variety of communication and power supply options available increases flexibility while reducing installation costs and complexity. Connection to host systems is made possible by a range of signals, including HART on/off and 4-20 mA, as well as digital connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Power over Ethernet (PoE) solutions, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP or Profinet. Each of these digital connections enables bi-directional communication of various types of data, including process variables, diagnostics, status, configuration and calibration. This data can be used to implement proactive maintenance practices and digital transformation initiatives.
Six pipe diameters are available, from DN6 to DN80, and product selection is made easy thanks to simplified, streamlined configuration. Laser marking ensures durability even in harsh environments, eliminating the need for adhesive labels or spot-welded tags. MyEmerson digital specification tools are quickly accessible via QR code, providing a simple and convenient solution for storing and accessing information associated with each flowmeter.
Transmitter Coriolis I/O Config Micro Motion 4701
Micro Motion's Coriolis flowmeters have been adopted by the chemical, food and life science industries, as well as by the oil and gas, petrochemical and other sectors. Many of these end-users are looking to migrate to higher-performance transmitters that offer additional features and benefits, while avoiding the costs associated with replacing existing flowmeter installations, which have typically provided decades of trouble-free service.
To solve this challenge, the Coriolis Micro Motion 4700 transmitter offers a retrofit adapter solution to replace the old transmitter in existing installations. Once installed, it automatically integrates with the existing flowmeter, providing additional functionality as if it were a new application. The transmitter is compatible with all Micro Motion Elite flowmeters (CMF and CMFS), F, H, R, T, HPC series and the new G series Coriolis flowmeters.
The transmitter adds many new features, including a Bluetooth connectivity option, which enables wireless communications over distances of up to 15 meters (50 feet) between the transmitter and Emerson's AMS device configurator. Wireless access via Bluetooth technology enables users to configure the flowmeter, access smart flowmeter verification diagnostics and access process information.
Thanks to the AMS Device Configurator application, users can quickly locate and identify transmitters, and then perform tasks related to configuration, device status monitoring and diagnostics. Reliability is enhanced because transmitters no longer need to be opened to gain access, protecting them from exposure to the outside environment.
The transmitter features three configurable wired I/O channels to provide connectivity options, including 4-20 mA HART, pulse output, on/off output, and Modbus RS-485. The Micro Motion 4700 is an ideal solution for retrofitting existing Micro Motion Coriolis flowmeter installations, and is also available as an option to provide advanced functionality for new installations.
