Flir Systems has launched two new ranges of thermal imaging cameras, similar in design and image resolution, but targeted at different markets: the E Series is designed for maintenance applications (locating hot spots on electrical and mechanical installations), while the Ebx Series is aimed at building inspection applications (locating thermal leaks, heating pipes, etc.). The E-Series can measure temperatures up to 650°C, with a resolution of 0.05°C. For the Ebx Series, the corresponding figures are 0.045°C and 120°C.
Both ranges are available in image resolutions of 160×120 pixels, 240 x 180 pixels or 320 x 240 pixels.
All these entry-level models stand out for their performance/price ratio.
In addition to a thermal sensor, these cameras are equipped with a 3 Mpixel image sensor for visible light, enabling the thermal image to be superimposed on the visible image. Other features include the ability to add voice and text annotations, to create .pdf reports directly on the camera, to receive (wirelessly) data from an ammeter (for E Series cameras) or a hygrometer (for Ebx Series), and to transmit recorded information wirelessly (via a WiFi connection) to a computer.
