Kistler, manufacturer of pressure, force, torque and acceleration transducers, has announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement with MTS Systems Corporation, a leading supplier of high-performance test systems and position transducers.
This partnership will benefit both companies and enhance their already proven capabilities, by combining MTS's innovations in on-road simulation systems with Kistler's expertise and leadership in wheel force transducers. Under the terms of the agreement, MTS plans to phase out its long-established Swift WFT product line, and is already offering customers a choice between its Swift products and Kistler's RoaDyn products for both on-road acquisition and benchtop simulation needs.
This collaboration will be of real long-term benefit to both companies, as it both supports MTS's established SWIFT torque wheel products and provides unlimited upgradability through Kistler's automotive load cell technology. Preparations are already well advanced for the transfer of calibration, repair and technical support services from MTS to Kistler by 2015. Kistler will continue to manage the MTS SWIFT torque wheel product line throughout its life cycle, and will continue the technical consolidation of both MTS products and its own RoaDyn systems over a long period.
This agreement demonstrates the continuing commitment of MTS and Kistler to the challenge of road simulation techniques, and will enable both companies to focus their efforts on research and innovation in the increasingly demanding field of road safety.
