Endress + Hauser - Magnetic Flow Meter
Share on LinkedInShare on FacebookShare on Twitter

In the field of industrial process measurement and automation, there is an increasing demand for simple, reliable and maintenance-free measuring instruments in a compact format. The new Picomag from Endress+Hauser meets all these requirements without compromise. It measures not only the flow rate of electrically conductive media, but also their process temperature. In addition, Picomag ensures easy commissioning via Bluetooth with the SmartBlue App, as well as seamless system integration with IO-Link technology. Picomag is thus perfectly prepared for Industry 4.0, the industry of the future.

Whether it is a quantity measurement or process monitoring for cooling, hot or process water, the compact design of the Picomag allows it to be installed without problems in any pipe up to a diameter of 50 millimeters (DN50), even in confined spaces. Various process connections are available, including NPT thread, R thread, internal thread, Tri-Clamp or Victaulic. Picomag is a cost-effective solution for applications that require high repeatability (±0.2 % o.f.s.) and therefore reliable measured values - for example to correctly measure water flows (max. 750 l/min) or to minimize energy costs in utilities. Picomag is suitable for process temperatures from -10 to +70 °C and process pressures up to 16 bar.

Clear display with diagnostic field

The large, user-friendly display allows instant local reading of flow rate, temperature and totalizer values. Errors occurring during operation, e.g. partial filling of the pipe or exceeding the limit temperature, are indicated by diagnostic symbols in accordance with NAMUR recommendation NE 107. The display rotates automatically depending on the installation position (horizontal, vertical). This ensures optimum readability at all times. And last but not least, the configuration parameters can be called up and monitored by simply tapping the device.

Wireless configuration and commissioning via Bluetooth

Thanks to the Bluetooth connection, wireless configuration or data retrieval is possible over a distance of 10 meters, even in hard-to-reach installation sites. The free SmartBlue app from Endress+Hauser allows the user to navigate quickly and easily through all instrument and diagnostic functions. The SmartBlue app is available for Android and iOS.

Optimal system integration with IO-Link technology

Another highlight of the Picomag is the digital transmission of data to process control systems via IO-Link technology. This communication standard has been around for 10 years and can be combined with all conventional fieldbus systems. It thus offers maximum installation flexibility in existing system infrastructures. IO-Link allows users to have full access to data from the control room. Other advantages of IO-Link technology include automatic parameter transfer after instrument replacement and low wiring costs compared to conventional wiring.
