Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence releases PC-DMIS 2018 R1, the latest edition of its metrology software. This is the first of two major PC-DMIS updates planned for 2018. Service packs are continuously updated to ensure maximum platform reliability.
PC-DMIS 2018 R1 makes it easy to convert AutoFeatures into points and quickly use the measurements made for new constructions and dimensions. This feature is available for Plan, Circle and Cylinder AutoFeatures. By transforming each measurement into a vector point, it is possible to use the Path Optimization function to improve the measurement order of the points, thus reducing the number of probe tip changes, as well as the overall measurement time. Support for Q-DAS facilitates analysis of PC-DMIS data. The new QuickSet command enables the use of both QuickFeature and GD&T selection, while offering the option of modifying measurement strategies.
" PC-DMIS 2018 R1 reflects our promise to incorporate the most appreciated elements from the User Idea Center*." observes Ken Woodbine, product line manager in Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence's metrology software division. "These include graphic point manipulation and AutoFeature Push to points. "This edition also interfaces perfectly with Q-DAS, which is an industry standard, and makes it easy to identify and track key parameters affecting process quality. It also focuses on optimizing fundamental elements of the measurement routine creation workflow, including front-end, central visual access to key measurement strategy parameters with the new QuickSet widget technology.
Faster QuickFeature measurement lets you create multiple circles and cylinders with a single click, a function optimized for bolt hole models or any surface containing multiple features of the same size and shape. This all-new edition also introduces an optimized fits and outcrops workflow for point cloud inspection. This improved workflow makes the extraction of multiple AutoFeatures fits and flushes from an existing point cloud even faster, which is very useful when inspecting sheet metal joints. INSPECT now also includes PC-DMIS CAD and LIVE views, and the ability to create lists containing one or more routines to be executed a certain number of times.
PC-DMIS offers a host of other enhancements: a new CAD rotation widget for one-click resizable CAD rotation, the addition of (M) for coaxiality/concentricity, support for the Leica Absolute Scanner LAS laser scanner, improved support for 4K display, laser QuickFeature, implementation of 2017.3 datasets, redefined user interface and improved user experience with the laser tracker.
PC-DMIS 2018 R1 is available for immediate download. Further information is available from the Hexagon distribution network.
