Based on the proven design of its predecessor, the new-generation HydroFORM scanner™ is an easy-to-use two-axis corrosion mapping solution optimized for one-person operation. Equipped with our ScanDeck™ With its innovative design and integrated index axis encoder, the enhanced HydroFORM scanner makes multi-element (ME) scanning easier and more efficient. It also responds to a wider range of inspection applications thanks to an improved water column and bubble management system.
Stand-alone, efficient line-by-line scanning with the ScanDeck module
When used in conjunction with an OmniScan™ X3, the ScanDeck module provides important feedback and enables certain functions to be controlled remotely, minimizing operator interaction with the OmniScan. Placed directly in the operator's field of vision during scanning, indicator lights show which encoder is active (index or scan axis), when the optimum position on the index axis has been reached, whether coupling is sufficient, and whether the maximum scan speed has been exceeded. It also enables the HydroFORM operator to remotely start data acquisition on the OmniScan. Not only do these feedback and remote control features reduce time-consuming tasks, they also improve the quality and reliability of the PA data acquired.
Corrosion control with dual-axis coding: extended applications and easy deployment
Thanks to the optional integrated index axis encoder, the HydroFORM scanner facilitates line-by-line scanning, as it offers a complete two-axis corrosion mapping solution that does not require the use of an auxiliary scanner. Smooth magnetic indexing wheels and improved bubble management extend the capabilities of the HydroFORM scanner to vertical and inverted scanning applications, such as tank wall corrosion control.
To ensure the reliability of PA signals, the HydroFORM's unique water column system has also been redesigned. For greater resistance to wear and temperature, joint protectors are now included, extending the life of the foam joints that hug the surface and maintain the coupling.
The enhanced HydroFORM scanner is a complete 2D corrosion-mapping solution that enables solo inspectors to efficiently inspect flat parts and pipes with an external diameter of 4" or more. Highly versatile, it can be used as a manual scanner with indexing device, as a scanner with two-axis guided coding, or as a scanner mounted on a compatible semi-automated or automated auxiliary scanner for complex, large-area and/or remote inspections.
