In 2015, Bürkert Fluid Control Systems, manufacturer of measuring, control and regulation systems for fluids and gases, presented Flowave, a flowmeter based on SAW (Surface Acoustic Waves) technology that allows the flow of liquids to be measured without any part inside the tube.
Present at the Pharmacosmetech trade fair held in Chartres from September 15 to 17, 2020, the German company presented Flowave S, a compact flowmeter based on the same technology, as well as Flowave 8098 in Atex zone 2 certified version for production in atmospheres with risk of explosion. It is therefore now possible to carry out hygienic flow measurement without a sensor in contact with the fluid in Atex areas with flammable fluids.
The flow rate is measured using the transit time differences of the surface acoustic waves, which means that no sensor element is required in the measuring tube. The principle of measurement with acoustic surface waves thus eliminates many weak points of established flowmeter techniques.
In addition to pure flow measurement, the Flowave range has the additional measurement variables “density factor” and “sound transmission coefficient (ATF)”. For example, the sensor can differentiate the change of fluids, measure the protein content and also detect gas bubbles in the medium.
Particularity of these innovations: 100% made in France production carried out on the Triembach-au-Val site, in the Bas-Rhin.
