An accelerometer for the diagnosis of submersible pumps

Likely to crash, damage and wear out, and often with unser easily access, pumps must be monitored to prevent overflows and contamination of public and residential areas. IFM's new piezoelectric accelerometer VSP004 addresses these issues.

This robust, shock-insensitive accelerometer, designed for standard industrial applications and explosive areas, can be submerged under 100 m of water. It communicates continuously with IFM VSE diagnostic electronics and thus reassems the defect information before serious damage occurs. This information is then transmitted by Ethernet to higher systems for monitoring or managing alarms. These devices can also be paired with IFM's SmartObserver monitoring software, and allow, via a user-friendly interface, the management of submersible pumps remotely and easily.

Thanks to the vibratory diagnosis, the pumps are protected because the VSP004 detects in time the cavitation, balourd, the wear of the bearings but also the wear of the joints, the blockage due to dirt and various objects.

Additional features:

  • Large range measuring ± 50g
  • Robust case with IP 68, submerged under 100 m of water
  • Available in a version for hazardous areas, Atex, IECEx and standard areas
