Weighing tray for airflow: minimizing the effects of the environment

Precision scales are often used in open environments where drafts and vibrations can cause variations in weighing accuracy, forcing operators to wait for stable weighing results. In the case of a laminar flow cabinet in which airflow is required, the effect on the equipment is the same.

Mettler Toledo's innovative design of the Smart Platter airflow weighing tray eliminates the impacts of drafts and vibrations to minimize errors and wait times due to these unwanted disturbances. Under difficult conditions, it allows to obtain weighing results twice as fast and increases the accuracy by a factor of 4 (example, inside a laminar flow cabinet, the legibility is 10 mg) to ensure a consistent quality.

According to Mettler Toledo, this intelligently designed weighing tray significantly improves weighing results in work environments subject to the following disturbances:

  • Air currents due to windows or open doors, air conditioners or fans
  • Use in laminar-flow cabinets
  • Vent in a hood or safety cabinet
  • Movement of people around the scale

Accuracy and productivity

The smart weighing tray eliminates the negative impacts that drafts can have on weighing results. By increasing the accuracy possible in difficult environments by up to four times, the risk of bad measurements, bad batches and over-filling is greatly reduced.

The innovative design of the smart weighing tray allows for stable weighing results more quickly, resulting in a reduction in weighing cycle time by up to 50%. This leads to increased productivity and speeds up flow.

Various features and easy cleaning

The versatile design of the tray allows for a multitude of weighing applications. Flasks, beakers, petri dishes, cylinders, capsules or buckets: the smart weighing tray is able to dry and measure in difficult environments with the utmost precision.

In addition to intelligent stabilization functions, the tray has also been designed to be easy to clean and is thus suitable for hygienically sensitive environments where daily cleaning is required to meet compliance standards and regulations.
