Ventilation and air treatment are key variables in the safe reopening of public spaces. Wika's air2guide airflow range can play a role in reducing the transmission of Covid-19 when resuming activities following deconfinement.
Public buildings need to improve ventilation and air filtration, and air handling units (AHUs) play an essential role in preventing risks from Covid 19. Reference can be made, for example, to the fundamental recommendations published by the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (Ashrae) Epidemic Working Group.
According to Wika, this is precisely an area in which the Wika air2guide range of measuring instruments is particularly well suited to :
- Maintain at least the minimum indoor-outdoor air exchange rate
- Limit recirculation of contaminated air
- Maintain an equivalent supply of clean air for a given occupancy rate
- Maintain temperature and humidity at recommended setpoints
The A2G-20 air velocity transmitter and A2G-25 air flow transmitter are involved in the precise measurement of the amount of outside air entering the HVAC unit, and can both monitor indoor air flow to promote mixing of room air without increasing person-to-person transmission.
Meanwhile, the A2G-85 detection system measures CO2 levels in a room, and the A2G-80 detects volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other vapors - body odors, tobacco smoke, food odors - in indoor air. Both devices are mounted in return ducts.
Other Wika products include mechanical or electronic differential pressure gauges (A2G-10, A2G-15), switches (A2G-40, A2G-90, A2G-45) and transmitters (A2G-50, A2G-55) that measure air pressure on both sides of a filter to determine when it needs to be cleaned or replaced.
Last but not least, the A2G-60 temperature sensor, the A2G-70 temperature and humidity sensor and the A2G-200 integrated ambient sensor (with CO2 detection) help to ensure, according to Wika, a comfortable and safe indoor environment.
