The Rohde & Schwarz technology group, a forerunner in future-oriented fields such as 6G and autonomous driving, will now also be active in quantum computing. The July 1, 2021 acquisition of Zurich Instruments AG, a technology leader in test and measurement, will enable Rohde & Schwarz to further develop its Test & Measurement division. The Swiss company Zurich Instruments AG will be managed as a wholly-owned subsidiary.
According to Rohde & Schwarz, over the next few decades, quantum technologies will significantly shape the high-tech industry. And the potential for industry and research is enormous. "This is a future trend involving billions in government subsidies and industrial investment. Rohde & Schwarz is already active in the field of quantum sensing. Thanks to this acquisition, the company is now positioning its T&M solutions in quantum computing, one of the world's most promising future technologies".says the company.
Zurich Instruments offers state-of-the-art test and measurement systems to customers in scientific and industrial research. The company has been at the forefront of science since its foundation in 2008. A spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich), Zurich Instruments has enjoyed continuous growth ever since. The company has over 100 employees in Zurich and regional offices in China, the USA, France, South Korea, Japan and Italy.
