Rohde & Schwarz has upgraded its R&S CMP200 series radiocommunication tester with a new option for small cell testing. This solution has been validated by Qualcomm Technologies. It is now supported by its Qualcomm Development Acceleration Resource Toolkit (QDART) for Small Cells software. Small cell infrastructure manufacturers that integrate the Qualcomm FSM100 5G RAN platform into their products are now assured that the R&S CMP200 tester meets all test requirements both in development and production.
Rohde & Schwarz, a leading supplier of test and measurement equipment for wireless communication applications, today announced that the new small cell testing option for its R&S CMP200 series radiocommunication tester has been validated by Qualcomm Technologies. Integrators of small cell infrastructure equipment operating in the millimeter wave (FR2) frequency range can now use QDART for Small Cells software. They can thus benefit from the incomparable characteristics of the R&S CMP200 tester such as its ultra-fast measurement speed and its ability to test several objects under test in parallel.
Small cells offer mobile operators the opportunity to increase the capacity of existing wireless networks. They also meet the increased demands of 5G applications in terms of data transfer. The R&S CMP200 solution enables rf parameterless testing of 5G communication signals operating at millimeter frequencies (mmWave). It combines in the same instrument the functionalities of a vector signal analyzer and those of an arbitrary signal generator. This integrated and compact solution can be adapted to the requirements of the application thanks to the possibility of using up to three remote radio heads of the R&S CMPHEAD30 series. They ensure the uplink and down conversion of signals to the FR2 band of 5G frequencies. The use of this independent one-piece tester, combined with the R&S CMPHEAD30 remote radio heads, makes it possible to reduce the length of rf cables and thus optimize their influence during radiated emission tests. This approach makes it possible to test complete devices operating in the FR2 frequency band but also RF integrated circuits composed of their two RF interfaces (intermediate frequency and millimeter).
The R&S CMP200 tester is suitable for testing equipment in both R&D and production.
