The 3D laser tracker segment benefits from next-generation probing usability, an integrated controller and is predisposed to harsh environments.
The Manufacturing Intelligence division today announced the launch of the combined Leica Absolute Tracker AT500 and B-Probe probe equipment, the latest 3D laser tracker system. Succeeding the highly successful AT400 series, the new AT500 platform enhances reflector and probing measurement performance, an integrated battery-powered controller design, IP54 environmental protection and an extended operating temperature range.
The AT500 has been designed to be the most portable and rugged laser tracker in the Hexagon range. Many features make installation very fast, including the integrated controller, which is a novelty in the field of the absolute tracker. This new design is a big step forward in terms of portability, with reduced wiring and plug & play type installation. It does not require any upgrade or initialization with reflector before measurements begin. This development brings a clear gain in overall productivity and reduces the time to obtain results.
This next-generation laser tracker platform also offers a revolution in probing functionality with the new B-Probe. A wider tilt angle and an extended working volume make the use of the probe very comfortable and easy to aim. Real-time connection information is displayed directly on the probe screen, ensuring that data points are measured correctly from the first click. All these novelties are supplied with a precision certification in accordance with the specifications of the ISO 10360-10 standard.
In addition, the extended operating temperature range of -15 to 50°C allows the AT500 to deliver accurate results anywhere, from a mountain peak to foundries, for example. The AT500 is the most suitable measurement system for harsh environments that go beyond ordinary manufacturing applications. Indeed, it combines a measurement volume of up to 320 meters, the largest on the market, and IP54 infiltration protection – a unique feature of the AT500 in the laser tracker market.
Interfacing with the HxGN SFx solution | Hexagon's Asset Management adds to the reliability and portability of the AT500 and allows the system to make its ability to measure anywhere even more evident. Thanks to this compatibility, the system can be monitored and managed remotely, promoting collaboration. All team members can easily keep an overview of the location of all the systems in their fleet, whether it's laser trackers, CMMs, or portable measuring arms. They can check if all equipment is up to date, well calibrated and certified, and even receive alerts in case of shock or change of condition.
