The 3D laser tracker segment boasts next-generation probing ease-of-use, an integrated controller and is predisposed to harsh environments.
The Manufacturing Intelligence Division today announces the launch of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT500 and B-Probe probe combination, the latest 3D laser tracker system. The successor to the highly successful AT400 series, the new AT500 platform features enhanced reflector and probing measurement performance, an integrated battery-powered controller design, IP54 environmental protection and an extended operating temperature range.
The AT500 has been designed to be the most portable and robust laser tracker in the Hexagon range. Numerous features make installation very quick, including the integrated controller, which is a novelty in the absolute tracker field. This new design is a big step forward in terms of portability, with reduced wiring and plug & play installation. There's no need to upgrade or initialize with a reflector before starting measurements. This development brings a clear gain in overall productivity and reduces the time needed to obtain results.
This new-generation laser tracker platform also offers a revolution in probing functionality with the new B-Probe. A wider angle of inclination and an extended working volume make the probe extremely comfortable to use and easy to aim. Real-time connection information is displayed directly on the probe's screen, ensuring that data points are measured correctly from the very first click. All these new features come with accuracy certification to ISO 10360-10 specifications.
What's more, the AT500's extended operating temperature range of -15 to 50°C enables it to deliver accurate results anywhere, from a mountain top to a foundry, for example. The AT500 is the measurement system best suited to harsh environments that go beyond ordinary manufacturing applications. Indeed, it combines a measurement volume of up to 320 meters, the widest on the market, with IP54 ingress protection - a feature unique to the AT500 on the laser tracker market.
Interfacing with Hexagon's HxGN SFx | Asset Management solution adds to the AT500's reliability and portability, making its ability to measure anywhere even more obvious. Thanks to this compatibility, the system can be monitored and managed remotely, promoting collaboration. All team members can easily keep an overview of the location of all systems in their fleet, whether laser trackers, CMMs or portable measuring arms. They can check that all equipment is up to date, well calibrated and certified, and even receive alerts in the event of a shock or change of status.
